Hazel Scott School of Dance is a dance school in Weymouth.

We follow the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet Syllabi and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) Syllabi giving our students the opportunity to be entered for dance exams if they wish. Our students can also participate in annual dance shows allowing them to experience the fun of performing on a stage in front of an audience and learning new choreography with a sense of performance and achievement. Our dance teaching approach focuses on the individual pupil enabling them to realise their full potential by teaching them the importance of a strong technical foundation with discipline, commitment and self-awareness of the many physical and social benefits of dance. Classes are designed to maximise the dancer’s confidence, social skills, poise, co-ordination, performance and self expression through dance whilst having fun.

Accepting both Girls and Boys from the age of 18 months up to and including Adults the school has a range of classes available including RAD Ballet which includes Character/National work, RAD Silver Swans (Adult Ballet), ISTD Modern and Tap including Adult Tap, and Melody Bear Classes. Classes are kept to a size that allows a personal approach giving individual attention where needed and are all taken by Hazel who is DBS (CRB) checked, First Aid trained and insured. What my clients say

  • I can highly recommend adult ballet classes with Hazel. She is so patient and skilled as she guides you effortlessly through the simple but oh not so simple exercises and routines. I’ve been doing classes for a year and half now and I feel stronger, more poised and more flexible. More importantly, I find it really therapeutic – I can relax and focus on something completely different for an hour a week

  • We are a group of mature women (age not behaviour ????) and wanted to learn to tap dance . Hazel is the most patient and inspiring teacher . She always challenges us with dance routines and choreography and at times we can be challenging with our giggling . However we always engage with the dancing . We attend just after a young children’s session and watching Hazel with the young members is engaging and and motivating . The classes are excellent value for money and brilliant exercise.

I cannot speak highly of Hazel and her astonishing teaching skills and undisputed talent . She has many classes for all ages and abilities .

  • Hazel’s a great teacher, I’ve been dancing with her since I was three learning ballet, tap, modern and national. I scored well in all my exams and loved performing in shows. I was working as a dancer and travelling as a performer with Disney cruise line, have now come back to Weymouth and to adult classes with hazel which I highly recommend.
